Despite the global and local headwinds, the automotive firms and suppliers put up a strong show at the 10th edition of the EXCON 2019 in Bangalore. Heavy vehicle makers as well as auto ancillary companies are actively participating in the event many are targetting the infrastructure sector as a as a way of buffer and counter the effects of the ongoing slowdown in domestic auto sales. Interestingly, the infrastructure sector is a key driver for the Indian economy.
Among the several prominent participants, Cummins India is showcasing QSF4.5 Bharat Stage IV CEV, and the QSB6.7 Bharat Stage IV CEV engines catering to the off-highway segment, SCR aftertreatment systems Single Module and Flex Module, X3.6 series rugged engine powered diesel generator set (40Kva) and Cummins PowerCommand Cloud.

One of the leading earthmoving and construction equipment company, JCB India launched its all new ecoXpert Backhoe Loader, introduced the NXT series and the Quarry Master range of Excavators. The company also launched its new range of side engined Telehandlers. JCB India is also showcasing its strong focus on digitisation and innovation, and leveraging the integration of Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) in its products and services at the event.
The company's new intelligent machines including the new ecoXpert 3DX Backhoe Loader, a machine with fuel savings of up to 12 percent and up to 22 percent lower maintenance costs. The new 3DX also comes loaded with JCB’s ‘IntelliPerformance’ and ‘IntelliDig’ technology which will give customers real time information about the performance of the machine.

Tier 1 major, Dana is showcasing its complete drive systems for compactors that include Spicer axles, Spicer Torque-Hub wheel drives, and Brevini hydraulic motors. In addition, the company is presenting a complete range of products for diesel-, hybrid-, and electric-powered aerial work platforms (AWPs), wheel loaders, and self-loading mixers. Aziz Aghili, president, Off-Highway Drive and Motion Technologies, Dana said, "India is one of the largest industrial markets in the world, making it a key region for supporting our customers through a larger global footprint and deeper e-mobility expertise. The comprehensive range of innovations we are featuring at EXCON 2019 reflects our investments to expand our world-class engineering, manufacturing, and distribution capabilities in India."
Swedish industrial tools and equipment major, Atlas Copco launched four compressors and extended light tower range. The XRH 1100 Plus is a product tailor-made for specialised applications like water well drilling, foundation drilling, coal mining and blast-hole drilling.
The XAWS 550 PACE (Pressure Adjusted through Cognitive Electronics) enables the customers to set the pressure, which the company says is the first-of-its-kind technology in the portable air compressor segment where pressure can be set with the XC2003 digital controller in 3-simple steps.
Tony Van Herbruggen, GM, Power Equipment, Atlas Copco India said, “These latest compressors are Made-in-India, at the Chakan facility in Pune supported with strong aftermarket service standards that help customers to enhance productivity, increase machine uptime, and achieve optimal fuel economy.”

Mahindra Truck and Bus, a part of the Mahindra Group, displayed its range of outperforming tippers. These tippers are best suited for construction related applications. Apart from the BLAZO X range of HCV Tippers, MTB also displayed its LCV tipper, the Loadking OPTIMO. This model with Its compact overall architecture is ideal for last-mile applications like sand mining and construction.
Speaking on their products, Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Truck and Bus and Construction Equipment Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “Construction is an intense, time-consuming process. Ensuring that our vehicles operate continually for nearly 18 to 20 hours per day is the key to the profitability of our customers. The Mahindra Blazo X tippers are designed for higher levels of utilisation.”
