Audi launches 2018 Q5 at Rs 53.25 lakh

Audi has launched the new second-gen Q5 in India with prices starting at Rs 53.25 lakh. It is available in two trims, Technology and Premium Plus, with the top-spec trim priced at Rs 57.60 lakh.

Compared to the outgoing model that was priced between Rs 49.44-55.92 lakh, prices have increased by Rs 3.81 lakh for the base model and by Rs 1.68 lakh for the top-spec variant.

The new Q5 is sold with a 190hp/400Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all-four-wheels via Audi’s Quattro system. The ARAI certified efficiency for this model, badged as the 35 TDI, is 17.01kpl. Five drive modes come as standard – Comfort, Dynamic, Individual, Automatic and Off-road.

The new Q5 shares VW Group’s MLB Evo platform with its larger sibling, making it about 90kg lighter than its predecessor, and shares styling cues, both inside and out. Audi offers five exterior paint shades on the SUV – black, white, blue, sliver and grey.

In terms of kit, the both trims get the Virtual Cockpit all-digital instrument cluster and an 8.3-inch free-standing screen for the MMI system with navigation that gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. An in-car Wi-Fi hotspot comes with the top-spec trim.

Despite local assembly of the SUV, it is more expensive than its competition like the BMW X3 (Rs 49.10-54.00 lakh), Mercedes-Benz GLC (Rs 48.11-52.13 lakh) and Volvo XC60 (Rs 55.90 lakh).

All prices ex-showroom, India
