Andhra Pradesh procures 9,260 LCVs to deliver ration supplies

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, today flagged off 9,260 mobile dispensing units (LCVs) to home-deliver ration to beneficiaries across the state.

The state has spent nearly Rs 539 crore for acquiring the light commercial vehicles, which are fitted with global positioning system (GPS) to enable ration cardholders to know the delivery of details in real-time through the mobile app. Each LCV will deliver goods for at least 18 days per month.

Interestingly, Tata Motors’ has supplied 6,413 Ace Gold small CVs  to Andhra Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation in October, 2020.

The state government has provided around 60 percent subsidy to eligible beneficiaries through various corporations under the Employment Guarantee Scheme to procure the LCVs.

According to estimates, the value of each vehicle is Rs 581,000 out of which Rs 348,600 was provided as a subsidy from various corporations.

In total, 700 vehicles were provided from the ST Corporation; 2,300 vehicles from SC Corporation, 3,800 from BC Corporation, 660 from Minorities Corporation, and 1,800 vehicles from EWEB Corporation to unemployed youth.
