In a bid to promote India’s move towards EV adoption, Amara Raja one of the leading battery makers in the country, has announced that the company has set up EV battery charging and swapping stations along with a fleet of e-autos in Tirupati. The initiative is undertaken in collaboration with Tirupati Municipal Corporation, as a part of its smart city program.
The inauguration was attended by Girisha P S, IAS, commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Tirupati; Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, MLA, Tirupati; H Harinatha Rao, CMD of APSPDCL and other senior officials of Amara Raja.
Amara Raja says the launch of the fleet of e-autos and EV charging and swapping station is a technological demonstration of the company's capabilities and commitment in the e-mobility segment. The lithium-ion battery packs, EV battery charging and swapping stations are designed and developed in the state-of-the-art R&D facilities of Amara Raja.

Amara Raja says EV charging infrastructure plays a key role in enabling proliferation of e-mobility in the country and therefore it is offering lithium-ion battery packs, charging stations and fleet operation solutions as an end-to-end package to its customers.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Ramachandra N Galla, chairman, Amara Raja Group said: “Amara Raja is committed to take part in the government’s initiatives to drive green mobility in the country. Amara Raja is closely watching trends and emerging business opportunities in the arena of electric mobility and has taken concrete steps towards enhancing its R&D capabilities, so as to develop battery packs for electric mobility and EV charging stations”.
Dr. Galla thanked Tirupati Municipal Corporation authorities for collaborating to set up these two charging stations and run a fleet of e-Autos in the city. Rashtria Seva Samithi (RASS) an NGO based out of Tirupati extended support in arranging women drivers for the e-auto fleet, creating self-employment and demonstrating women empowerment.
