Amara Raja Group wins eight Quality Control Circle awards

The Amara Raja has nearly 1,300 quality control circles comprising 8,000 employees across different business verticals.

Amara Raja Group wins eight Quality Control Circle awards

The Amara Raja Group today announced that it has won eight Par Excellence awards at the 46th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) held in Hyderabad between November 24-27.

The Group, whose business interests span a variety of verticals from the Amaron brand of lead-acid batteries to power conversion products, sheet metal products, precision components, plastic molding, electronic manufacturing services, infrastructure development, industrial services to food, had entered eight teams in the international level competition.

 

Up against over 900 teams comprised of nearly 5,000 participants from 13 countries, they each won the Par Excellence award.

 

C Narashimulu Naidu, Chief Operations Officer, said:“I am incredibly proud of the success our teams have achieved on such a prestigious global stage. Their achievements are certainly testament to the exacting quality control standards we aspire to at the Amara Raja Group. They are also a reflection of our ‘The Amara Raja Way’, our culture and desire to constantly excel and keep pushing the boundaries to seek improvement in a open-minded, collaborative and inclusive manner.”

 

Quality Control Circles (QCC) are a participative approach to problem solving in which groups of operativesfrom the shop floor area identify, analyse and devise solutions to problems, driving a continuous improvement in business and quality standards.

 

Amara Raja began incorporating QCCs in 2004, initially starting out with just five circles. Today, nearly 1,300 quality control circles comprising 8,000 employees are deployed throughout the Group.

 

This push to instill a QCC culture, has delivered tremendous value in the form of cost reductions, quality improvement, delivery improvement, an improvement in safety and ergonomic standards and zero rejections.
