The Automotive Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) today announced it is deferring the biennial Components Expo, in line with the main motor show that also stands postponed.
As always, the four-day event was to be held in tandem with the Motor Show but at Pragati Maidan, which has been undergoing extensive renovation since the last Components Show in February 2020.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the Indian component industry’s FY2021 performance results, ACMA president Deepak Jain said, "The component industry has to be aligned with the vehicle industry. The Auto Expo is a very prestigious event and hence the Components Show will also need to be postponed. So, we would also look at a later date, when the pandemic situation is conducive."
Yesterday, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) had announced that the Auto Expo 2022 (February 2- 9) at Greater Noida, has been postponed given the ongoing Covid situation in the country.
"Safety of exhibitors, visitors and all stakeholders involved and present at the expo is the topmost priority for SIAM. It is in this context that the Indian automobile industry and SIAM recognise the inherent risks in organising the Auto Expo due to the on-going Covid-19 Pandemic and the apprehensions of a possible third wave," SIAM said in a statement.
Both the Auto Expo 2022 and ACMA Components Show 2022 are likely to be rescheduled, in alignment with the OICA calendar of global auto shows.
