Yamaha rolls out its 10-millionth motorcycle in Taiwan
In 2016 Yamaha Motor Taiwan manufactured 330,000 units, of which 250,000 were for Taiwan and 80,000 for overseas markets including Japan.
Yamaha Motor Group company Yamaha Motor Taiwan (YMT) has produced its 10-millionth motorcycle since the company’s establishment in 1987.
YMT was established in 1987 as a local subsidiary of Yamaha Motor for motorcycle production in Taoyuan City of northern Taiwan, and mainly produces scooters for Taiwan and Japan. The annual production volume in 2016 was 330,000 units, of which 250,000 were for Taiwan and 80,000 for overseas markets including Japan.
In Taiwan, the total number of motorcycles owned is more than 13 million units, with the country’s total population being 24 million people; the annual total demand for motorcycles is about 850,000 units. In Taiwan, scooters are widely used as a means of transportation in everyday life.
