On September 2, SAIC-GM-Wuling's new upgraded new energy model, the Baojun E200, was officially launched in China in two versions: Zhixing and Zhixiang, priced at 54,800 yuan (Rs 550,000) and 64,800 yuan (Rs 651,000) respectively.

The Baojun E200, which has a driving range of 250km, is 2497mm long, 1526mm wide and 1616mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1600mm. Essentially, the body size is only half of the traditional fuel car, and the steering radius is only 3.8 metres. Charging the Baojun E200 is possible on the household 220V.

The lithium-ion-battery-powered Baojun E200 has plenty of functions and details, small handrails, special hooks, card slots and other small designs. The concealed space in the co-pilot seat and the reversible function of the co-pilot seat offer extra storage space.

SAIC-GM-Wuling' says the proportion of ultra-high-strength and high-strength steel used in the body is over 42.9 percent, and a stringent vehicle-level crash test was conducted, albeit no details as to the test performance have been given. The passenger compartment and battery compartment are framed and caged for effective occupant protection in the event of a collision.

The Baojun E200 is the second pure electric vehicle under SAIC-GM-Wuling. The Baojun E100, launched in June, is claimed to have "achieved good sales performance and reached the top of the new energy mini-vehicle market segment in July."
