Japanese car major Nissan Motor Corp has been making significant changes in its domestic and global management team. The carmaker today announced appointed Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar as General Manager and Head, Global Corporate Communications for Nissan.
This is the third announcement from the Japanese carmaker in the span of two months. In September the OEM appointed Rakesh Srivastava as the new MD for the company in India, while in October Makoto Uchida was appointed as the new CEO and Ashwani Gupta as the COO.
Dr. Wadgaonkar will be based in Japan, and will report to Sadayuki Hamaguchi, Chief Communications Officer of Nissan. In her new role, she will be responsible for strengthening the company’s reputation through executive communication, issues and crisis management, corporate narrative and media relations globally.
She has over 25 years of international experience in strategic communications, public affairs, brand management, marketing and sustainability. Since 2016, Dr. Wadgaonkar has led and developed the communications and external and government affairs functions for Nissan Asia and Oceania. She had earlier led the corporate communications and sustainability strategy for Nissan India.
Before joining Nissan in 2012, she had worked with Lexmark, Reliance and Eaton in various leadership roles in communications and marketing. Originally from Hyderabad in India, Dr. Wadgaonkar holds a PhD, an MPhil, and a Masters degree from Osmania University.
