Mahle’s PMU 400 contamination measuring system bags prestigious French award
Mahle's precise condensation particle counting was the deciding factor for the jury consisting of around 20 experts.
Mahle Aftermarket’s new PMU 400 contamination measuring system has been awarded the prestigious Prix de l’Équipement by French magazine Décision Atelier. The precise condensation particle counting was the deciding factor for the jury consisting of around 20 experts from the automotive industry and trade. The PMU 400 beat out a total of thirteen competing products.
The PMU 400 was developed in response to the reintroduction of particle measurement at the tail pipe as part of the TUV general inspection from 2023. It is also well equipped for future legislative changes involving stricter measurement tolerances and different engine types. In contrast to other measuring technologies on the market, the company claims, this system can precisely measure the individual nanoparticles in the exhaust gas flow, particularly in gasoline engines and even at low concentrations.
This means that the sample taken from the exhaust pipe can be attenuated with clean air by a factor of two hundred to minimize the deposition of particles and dirt in the most sensitive parts of the measuring device. The PMU 400 is therefore a highly reliable, low-maintenance measuring instrument with the additional benefit of intuitive operability.
