JLR's entirely new, fully engineered electric car platform is capable of supporting a wide variety of autonomous, shared and private vehicle configurations.
Project Vector ‘autonomy-ready’ platform offers solution to today’s urban mobility challenges with unparalleled interior space and flexibility in vehicle configuration.
Project Vector is part of JLR’s Destination Zero journey, offering its vision of an autonomous, electric, connected future for urban mobility.
It has been developed at the National Automotive Innovation Centre to gain the advantages of working with agility and close collaboration with academic and external partners.
It will also address the wider landscape of mobility, from how customers connect with mobility services, to the infrastructure required to enable fully integrated, autonomous vehicles in our cities.
The project has been financed by Jaguar Land Rover, but has been structured as a start-up company which plans to seek outside investment via IPO.
The vehicle being readied for the Coventry trials is just four metres long and designed for life in the city, with its battery and drivetrain components packed into a flat floor, allowing maximum design flexibility for the body above.
