Honda Indonesia launches new CB150R StreetFire and Sonic 150R

Earlier this month, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) launched two new motorcycles – the CB150R StreetFire and  Sonic 150 R – both powered by a DOHC, 4-valve, liquid-cooled 150cc engine mated to a six-speed transmission.

Honda says the new CBR150R StreetFire for Indonesia has been updated in styling, engine and chassis. Top speed is 125kph and fuel efficiency is 40.6 kilometres per litre. Other highlights include the arrow-like silhouette, from the low-set headlight to the edgy rear section. LED lights are embedded in all lighting systems. Frontal weight has been reduced and helps centralise mass.

To enable improved ride and handling, Honda says the new CBR150R StreetFire packs new technologies like uniaxial primary balancer, helical gear, and high rigidity crank journal bush which help reduce noise and vibration levels. Further, a new frame delivers a balance of high rigidity and flexibility. Honda Indonesia is targeting monthly sales of 21,000 units a month. The bike is priced at IDR 25,400,000 (on-road Jakarta)/Rs 120,142.

First launched in Indonesia in December 2012, the CBR150R StreetFire has till now sold a total of 410,540 units. In 2014, it sold 196,622 units.  

New Sonic 150R

The Sonic 150R is aimed at teenage motorcycle enthusiasts. Aggressively styled, it sports an LED headlights, full digital indicator, aluminium wheels, 296mm front disc brake and tubeless tyres. While top speed is 124kph, fuel efficiency is 45.4kpl. The on-road Jakarta price of the bike is IDR 20,900,000 (Rs 99,066). The monthly sales target is 11,000 units.

Speaking at the launch, president director AHM Toshiyuki Inuma said, “The power unit of the all-new Honda CB150R StreetFire and new Honda Sonic 150 R is developed with all the latest technologies to achieve quantum improvement of the control at the rider’s will.”
