GM appoints Harry Sze as design director at China Advanced Design Studio

General Motors has appointed Harry Sze as director of Design at its China Advanced Design Studio in Shanghai.

The GM China Advanced Design Studio is focused on helping realise GM’s vision for transportation by developing concept and new energy vehicles for China and other markets. It is a key member of the GM global design studio network, contributing to GM’s exploration of advanced mobility solutions. The facility is in the process of expanding its size and growing its capability, backed by a strong team of local talent.

Sze is leading the aesthetic direction and quality execution of innovative exteriors and interiors for advanced concept vehicles for China. He reports to Ken Parkinson, GM China and GM International vice president of Design.

“We are pleased to have Harry join GM Global Design to lead our China Advanced Design studio here in Shanghai,” said Parkinson. “The experience Harry brings will strengthen this team’s capability as we work on GM’s future vision of mobility.”  

Sze has worked at BMW Group Designworks since 2014, serving as director of the Shanghai studio since 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree in transportation design from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
