Ford confirms Bronco SUV’s production for 2020

The Ford Bronco nametag will return to production with a new global SUV model that could go on sale in Britain from 2020.

Confirmed at the ongoing Detroit motor show, the future Bronco is described as a midsize 4x4, suggesting it will be more rugged than Ford’s current SUV offerings. It’ll be built on the same platform as the next-generation Ranger pick-up, which is due to arrive in 2019.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas announced, “Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4x4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city.”

Production for the last Bronco model ceased in 1996, 30 years after the name was introduced to the American market. The future SUV is described by Ford as a global model, meaning Britain could be one of several markets outside of the USA to get it.

No technical details of images for either future model have been released. The last design for a Bronco came with a 2004 concept (pictured).
