CCA completes multi-million pound investment deal with China Red Sun Group
The partnership will focus on the development of two future automotive technology research and development centres in Coventry and Nanjing.
Coventry-based CAD CAM Automotive (CCA) and China’s Red Sun Group have come together to make an investment of 300 million pounds (Rs 2,743 crore) over the next five years.
The initial stage of the investment, i.e. 50 million pounds (Rs 456 crore) will go in the development of a new energy and new power vehicle research and development centre. The deal follows Chinese President Xi Jinping’s successful visit to the UK and was officially announced after a visit to CCA’s Coventry facility by Huang Lixin, member of the standing committee of Jiangsu Province and Party Secretary of Nanjing City. She was accompanied by officials from all the important economic departments, as well as leaders of major listed companies from this area of China. Among the business leaders in the delegation was Yang Shou Hai, president of Red Sun Group, who officially announced the investment in CCA during the visit.

The Mission of this partnership is the creation of a ‘New Energy’ Automotive product range utilising the best of British design and engineering expertise, backed by the world’s largest automotive market. As well as a new automotive product range, this partnership will see the creation of two future automotive technology research and development centres in Coventry and Nanjing. It will create up to 1000 new jobs in Coventry in the United Kingdom, and Nanjing in the People’s Republic of China.
CCA is a high-technology, creative design, development and manufacturing company. It can trace its roots back more than 100 years and has a solid reputation in the UK automotive industry. CCA has claimed that it was the key BIW (Body in White) prototype supplier for the Range Rover Evoque where they carried out BIW prototype tooling design and manufacture, prototype assembly and checking fixture design and manufacture. They even provide support and liaison on-site at JLR.
Other than Jaguar Land Rover, their clientele includes Aston Martin and Bentley also. Its current specialities are focused on the development and production of lightweight vehicle body structures. They were also involved in the development of the Jet powered ‘Bluebird’, the car used to create land speed record.
