Apollo Tyres expands to European OEM market

Vredestein tyres have been selected as a fitment on the Volkswagen Polo, Seat Ibiza and Ford EcoSport, and the supplies have already begun to these auto makers.

Indian tyre manufacturer, Apollo Tyres’ expands to European market switching gears from a replacement market focused company to a supplier to the European OEMs. It’s premium offering ‘Vredestein’ to be fitted on selected Volkswagen, SEAT and Ford vehicles.

Commenting on the journey, Neeraj Kanwar, vice-chairman and MD, Apollo Tyres, said,  “By entering the supply chains of world-leading carmakers such as Volkswagen, Ford and SEAT, Apollo Tyres has embarked on a very important journey with European OEMs. While these are the first few, there are several other OEM approvals in the pipeline for our passenger car tyres.”  

Volkswagen Polo customers can select between Vredestein Snowtrac 5 (winter tyre), Sportrac 5 (summer tyre) or Quatrac 5 (all-season tyre). The range for the SEAT Ibiza will consist of the Vredestein Sportrac 5 and the Quatrac 5, while the Ford Ecosport will be fitted with the Vredestein Sportrac5 tyres.

The company’s manufacturing facility in Hungary – one of its most advanced in the world – is aimed to accelerate contribution of Apollo Tyres’ OE journey in Europe. In India, Apollo Tyres has relationships with several leading auto manufacturers, and comes as an OE fitment in almost all the top selling passenger cars in the country.
