SIAM organises sixth edition of inter-school competition on ‘road safety’

SIAM organises sixth edition of inter-school competition on ‘road safety’

SIAM or the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, organised the sixth inter-school competition on ‘road safety’ in collaboration with Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar, New Delhi. Approximately 1000 students across age groups, from pre-school to Class 12, participated in multitude of activities aimed at sensitising them about ‘safe mobility’ during the course of this three-day event.

This program was developed to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst children and making Indian roads safer for everyone.  The competitions ranged from ‘design a mask’, ‘rap song’, ‘stamp designing’, to ‘jute bag designing’, ‘canvas painting’, 'ted talks’ , ‘best out of waste’, ‘stand-up comedy’, ‘mono act’, ‘mime’, ‘innovative exhibit’ and even ‘salad making’.

Apart from this, many online competitions such as ‘e-poster making’, ‘jingle’, logo designing’, ‘presentation on road safety’, ‘video song recording’, ‘brochure designing’, ‘movie making’, ‘photography’ were also organised. A special team from Traffic Police Chandigarh were invited to address the participating students and teachers.

Speaking about the event, Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM said, “This sensitising activity combines learning with play so that the critical aspects of road safety education can be more readily absorbed by the children.”

This is the 6th edition of inter-school competition facilitated by SIAM to further the cause of road safety, and increase awareness about the subject among children. Along with this, SIAM regularly engages with its members, dealers, OEMs as well as other stakeholders to stress on the importance of road safety through different initiatives.
